The filter through which we view the world has a significant impact on our productivity and success. That filter is our mindset. You may not have considered this before but your mindset is a skill that you can develop.
Who hasn’t gone to a meeting with that character known as Debbie Downer? No matter what the suggestion, she’s got a reason why it won’t work or a story about something awful that happened. At the end of your meeting, you feel like you’ve been beaten with wet noodles. Weighted down, you leave without a new idea to try or without a plan to move forward.
Your own mind can serve as a Debbie Downer to you. Negativity can shoot down every idea like ducks in an arcade. “You can’t do this and you won’t succeed at that. The other thing is too hard and no one will help you.”
The power of positive thinking is real. When you think that you can do something, you will quickly think of ways to overcome or go around roadblocks. When you are negative focused, you let the roadblocks stop you from proceeding.
How is your mindset? Take a moment to give yourself an attitude adjustment. Start by making a list of all the positive things that you have going for yourself or your business. Try to adjust your thought process. When you begin to think negative thoughts, stop for a moment and force yourself to list positive results of that action or ways to counter the negative.
Until next time …
