Once upon a time, I was asked if I could speak on the topic “Getting Organized Once and For All” and I replied no with a chuckle. Clearing clutter and getting organized is an ongoing event. The good news is the more clutter-free you stay, the easier it is to be organized.
If you’ve just finished clearing clutter and organizing an area, keep it clean with these tips.
- Keep in mind you should always be asking “Do I love it? Use it? Need it?” These questions will help you keep from accumulating too much.
- Another great question is “Where will I put it?” If you want to bring home something new, ask yourself where exactly it will go. If you don’t know, don’t get it.
- Practice the one-in and one-out rule. If you bring home a new sweater, choose something to remove from your closet.
- Plan in maintenance. Once you’ve cleaned the top of your desk or kitchen countertops, create a routine for tweaking them often to keep them that way.
Until next time …
